Source: The Day, New London, Conn.self storageSept. 04--NORWICH -- A campaign flier by Democratic alderman and mayoral candidate Charles Jaskiewicz that features a photo of Norwich Superintendent Abby Dolliver and four U.S. Coast Guard cadets in uniform has raised concerns that it implies the top school official has endorsed Jaskiewicz.Jaskiewicz and Alderwoman Deberey Hinchey will face off in a primary Tuesday for the Democratic nomination.Dolliver said she had seen the flier and said she did not give Jaskiewicz permission to use the photo in campaign material. She said Jaskiewicz showed her the photo -- taken at an award reception when Jaskiewicz received a military education award for sponsoring U.S. Coast Guard Academy cadets -- but did not directly ask her for permission to use it.Dolliver wrote a letter to the Board of Education Aug. 26 addressing the issue."It has come to my attention through a parent and a community member that my picture is being used on campaign materials," Dolliver wrote to the board. "I told all candidates that I wou迷你倉d not publicly (privately either) support any of them. One of the candidates has used my picture in the material that is getting circulated. I had nothing to do with this and had asked not to be involved. I wanted to be sure that you know that this was not my doing."Jaskiewicz said Tuesday the flier only represented two aspects of his public service career he feels most proud of -- his dedication to public education and his sponsorship of Coast Guard cadets.
