He filed a complaint with the San Benito Police Department accusing Hernandez of threatening to burn down his home and kill him during an Oct. 27 confrontation.Cameron County District Attorney's office spokeswoman Melissa Zamora said prosecutors revised the charge to a threat of violence."We're fighting this case," Raynaldo Rodriguez said. "This is a completely politically motivated case. This is an effort to smear (Hernandez's) name even more so that eventually he will be removed from office. We're very confident he will be cleared of these charges."Ricardo Rodriguez's son, Ricardo Rodriguez, Jr., said his father was ill and could not comment on the case.The charges brought by Rodriguez will not affect an earlier agreement reached after Hernandez was indicted in October 2012 on a misdemeanor charge of abuse of official capacity and a felony charge of tampering with evidence.
