Source: Chicago TribuneJuly 23--Lake County residents may have had some problems last week with online tasks such as paying bills, applying for marriage licenses or registering to vote after the county's website experienced some technical difficulties, county officials said.迷你倉沙田What officials originally thought was a software problem actually turned out to be a piece of failed hardware, according to Kirk Talbott, chief information officer for the county. When a software update was applied in an attempt to fix the issue, it "ended up breaking things worse," Talbott said, resulting in the problems.Parts of the system were brought back online throughout the day, and everything was up and running by the evening of July 17, he said.Officials had worked around the clock the night before trying to address the issue, County Clerk Willard Helander said. The problem was particularly hard to diagnose, Talbott said, because the hardware only partially迷你倉價錢failed. Normally, he said, when systems fail, they switch over to a secondary unit, but that didn't happen in this case."Once we found it was bad, we turned it off," he said.Talbott said beyond bills, access to the assessor's office and voter registration, he also was aware of issues with filing court applications and records."I can't say any department over another was harder-hit," Talbott said. "Some departments are more dependent than others with public-facing systems."The county has data backups for any system that has an effect on citizens, Talbott said, to prevent further issues. He said residents' data was not affected by the interruption in service. All services remained available to residents who came in person to the county building, 18 N.
