Source: Chicago TribuneJuly 13--A 39-year-old man was ordered held without bail today after being arrested in Florida and charged with strangling his girlfriend last year because he found texts from another man on her phone, officials said.迷你倉沙田Angel Santiago was arrested in Florida where he lived in Florida City and worked as a Krispy Kreme doughnut driver, according to court records. Judge Donald Panarese Jr. ordered him held without bail.Santiago was arrested by the FBI and Homestead Florida police on June 26, according to Cook County Assistant State's Atty. Jennifer Dillman. Officials were acting on an arrest warrant issued on Jan. 29, 2012 that named Santiago for identity theft, Dillman said.In addition to the identity theft charge, Santiago was charged with first- degree murder in the slaying of his girlfriend Antonia Berrios, 33, Dillman said.Berrios was found dead in her home on Jan. 24, 2012 on the 2000 block of South May Street by an aunt after family had not heard from her for about five days, Dillman said.Police found several sticky notes on the kitchen on which someone had written, "Because of Michael this happened," "See you on the other side, goodbye," "give all of my belongings to my kids," "tell my kids I love them and I'm sorry."Police also found a sticky note in the garbage can where someone had written, "Now we can be together for eternity." In the bathroom sink police found vomit mixed with pills, Dillman said.In addition, police found a noose fashioned from a heavy duty extension cord placed over a beam on the ceiling, Dillman said.After police began investigating, the 迷你倉價錢iscovered that the woman' car was missing and discovered that the woman's debit card had been used at several stores including the Greyhound bus station in Chicago, Dillman said.Several withdrawal requests were denied including one at the bus station at 630 W. Harrison St., Dillman said. The woman's car was found abandoned a block from the station. At that point, police discovered that Santiago had purchased a bus ticket to Miami on Jan. 22, 2012 using cash, Dillman said.After Santiago was tracked to Florida and arrested, police took a DNA sample from him which matched DNA found on the sticky notes, the vomit, electrical cord and the steering wheel of the woman's car.On Thursday, he confessed to detectives that he had strangled Berrios after he found text messages on her cell phone and discovered that she had began a relationship with a man named Michael, Dillman said.He told police that after he strangled the woman, he tried to commit suicide by electrocuting himself in the bathtub and taking pills but vomited them out. He then admitted using her debit card and buying the bus ticket to Miami, Dillman said.At the time the woman's body was found her body had decomposed and the cause and manner of her death was not able to be determined, Dillman said. The medical examiner's office cannot rule out strangulation as the cause of death, Dillman said.
