As an activist, he also said that he had spoken to Apple's CEO about financial ways of boosting the share price.Icahn admits that he does not know a great deal about technology, and that his interest in Apple stems first and foremost from the huge mountain of cash that the company holds and keeps adding to quarter after quarter. On his Twitter account and in interviews with the media he repeatedly explains that he doesn't get rich because of in-depth research on technology of any kind, but that he makes money "studying natural stupidity".Last week, Ceva Inc. Source: Ocala Star-Banner, Fla.迷你倉價錢Aug. 19--Last week, for the second time in three years, the diamonds at the Rotary Sportsplex were crowded with youngsters from every corner of America competing to become a national champion at the Cal Ripken World Series youth baseball tournament.Over at Silver Springs, the tired attraction is getting a facelift en route to becoming part of Florida's award-winning state park system.And at the Florida Horse Park, the local equine community is getting geared up for a $2 million expansion, approved earlier this year by the Legislature.In short, Ocala-Marion County's tourism industry is getting a boost from assets old and new.Yet building on the success that already is, or soon will be, evident to the public is the focus of a behind-the-scenes political debate between the County Commission and its main tourism advisers.At issue is the board's opposition to raising taxes -- a stance, the tourism group says, that is hobbling the community's opportunities to attract more visitors.The matter came to a boil at a recent joint workshop whose circular arguments about higher taxes and new investment featured some blunt commentary.Things ultimately ended with the County Commission agreeing to review some tentative goals for the tourism agency, but not committing to anything beyond that.For months, some members of the community's Tourist Development Council, or TDC, have advocated increasing the so called "bed tax," a levy assessed on overnight hotel, motel and campground stays that can be utilized for a variety of tourism-related purposes.Sixty-two Florida counties have adopted the bed tax, yet Marion is one of a dozen of them that still charges only 2 percent, meaning the local rate is the lowest in the state, according to a state report.Only one of those 12 counties -- Pasco -- rivals Ocala-Marion in population. The rest have two-thirds fewer people or less.The TDC's tax-hike advocates believe it is time to raise the rate.The rate has stood at 2 percent since it first took effect in January 2005 after being approved by 61 percent of the voters in the 2004 elections.While the tax's revenues have fluctuated with the boom and bust of the past decade, it annually brings in around $1 million. The Ocala-Marion County Visitors & Convention Bureau uses the funds for media campaigns promoting the community and to provide grants for local events.Ocala-Marion's efforts to entice more visitors to the community, say advocates of raising the tax, are held captive by flat revenues and stale thinking from elected officials about the tax.The upside is that the revenue is generated almost exclusively by tourists, with little effect on resident taxpayers, they maintain.A report by the state Office of Economic and Demographic Research suggests Marion County could more than double its revenues raising the rate to the 5 percent maximum.From another angle, Marion County leaves $1.3 million on the table by keeping its rate at 2 percent instead of escalating it to 5 percent, which would at least match most of Florida's prime tourist areas.Over the course of the nearly seven-hour workshop, the County Commission heard plenty of ideas of what the money could be used for.Led by Elaine McLaughlin, president of McLaughlin Tourism Management and the county's consultant, the TDC suggested more in-depth research was needed to understand where Marion County's visitors came from and why they came.Also a must was a complete inventory of local tourist sites that could be promoted elsewhere beyond the well-known ones such as Silver Springs or the Horse Park.The conversation further inclu迷你倉庫ed the need to bulk up the tourism bureau's staff and coffers which, McLaughlin said, are at woeful levels compared to Ocala-Marion's primary competitors.There was discussion of a "superior small lodging" program to revitalize small run-down hotels, especially near Silver Springs; a website improvement that would allow visitors to book lodging through the bureau's Internet site; a "concierge" initiative that could help guests plan an itinerary of events during their stay; infrastructure improvements within tourist areas; and enhanced signage along major roads to introduce motorists to the communityBut as the list was developed, commissioners expressed little appetite about nudging the tax rate upward -- which can be done with a super-majority vote by the commission."It's simple," said Commissioner Carl Zalak when asked by TDC members why the board would object to moving forward."It's the 'T' word.""It's not the job of the County Commission to raise people's taxes," added Commissioner David Moore.Chairwoman Kathy Bryant, in comments echoed by other commissioners, said the board needed a clear and concise plan to present to the community before discussing a tax increase."The problem is, we can talk about raising the bed tax," said Commissioner Stan McClain, but "this commissioner is not going to support an increase in the bed tax unless I understand what the ROI (return on investment) is, unless I understand what we're going to spend the money for."When it came to talking about raising the levy, Bryant added, the public would likely not understand that the bed tax is something that misses most residents.The TDC's response was to suggest that planning would be difficult without knowing how much money could be spent on the identified initiatives.The County Commission's position also drew some terse and barbed criticism from the advisory panel."I'm done because you don't listen to us anyway," said TDC member Tim Petty, a longtime proponent of boosting the tax rate."To just flat say no . . . I don't know why you're here, why you're here wasting your time if you feel that way," he added. "I'm just flat blown away with that answer . . . that you could just so quickly say no.""I think you have a harder time trying to prove that the tax is bad for Marion County than you do that it is good for Marion County," said Ocala City Councilman Daniel Owen, the City Council's liaison to the TDC.Owen likened the bed tax to the tourists' "credit card," which would enable the community to obtain things it could use all the time while using "somebody else's money.""The truth of the tax word is, it's helping Marion County, which is what you took an oath to do. （吉隆坡18日訊）中國駐馬大使拿督柴璽說，迷你倉中國國家主席習近平10月來馬進行國事訪問，相信會對中馬兩國未來5至10年的關係發展，作出新的規劃。他說，習近平很重視中馬兩國關係發展，特別重視這次到馬的國事訪問。出席廣之旅公司15週年慶柴璽今晚出席中國廣之旅集團大馬廣之旅公司成立15週年感謝晚宴後，受記者詢時說，大馬方面，首相拿督斯里納吉和內閣也十分重視這次行程，相信會作出周到和細致安排。他指出，這是中國和大馬分別舉行十八大和505大選後，選出新政府進行的首次接觸，意義非凡。目前兩國正在進行詳細的行動和項目安排，期待訪問期間能取得具體成果。黃燕燕：15年前看走眼中遊客現今破150萬大馬旅遊促進局主席拿督斯里黃燕燕說，15年前，大馬未看好中國旅遊業，但這個觀點顯然是錯誤的。她說，當時她擔任旅遊部副部長，很多官員對中國冷陌，沒有想到中國崛起，帶動旅遊事業，目前中國來馬的觀文件倉客突破150萬人。她指出，當時為了打破官員錯誤想法，她甚至安排移民局總監到中國訪問觀察，回來後立刻落實簽證簡化，全面吸引中國旅客。她提到，明年是大馬旅遊年及馬中建交40年，因此會推出更多旅遊項目，預料會吸引180萬人次的中國觀光客來馬。黃燕燕也感激中國廣之旅集團和大馬廣之旅公司，在開拓馬中旅遊事業，作出許多努力，目前令人欣慰，看到具體成果。陳白羽：廣之旅要促進馬中旅遊業中國廣之旅集團總裁陳白羽說，該公司承諾，未來15年會做出更好成績，帶來馬中兩國更蓬勃的旅遊業。她說，15年前，大馬廣之旅在這裡開拓，很難想像能取得目前的成績。她指出，我們也很難想像未來15年能看到怎麼的局面，但可以肯定的是公司會付出更多。大馬廣之旅公司董事總經理李中平感到欣慰，在大馬投入開拓旅遊事業，遇到許多貴人，使公司取得成長。他說，公司扮演促進馬中兩國旅遊和文化交流，相信未來會付出更多心力。;存倉

本報訊（成都晚報記者 程璞 圖片由成鐵公安提供）昨日，存倉記者從成都鐵路警方獲悉，成都東站派出所在旅客例行檢查中發現一張偽造的假身份證，並以此為線索查獲了近年來最大一起制販假證案件，繳獲各類假章假證7000余枚（本）（如圖）。8月16日上午9時許，成都東站派出所民警在查驗旅客證件和車票時，發現一名男性旅客所持身份證製作粗糙，字跡模糊。通過進一步詢問調查，該男子承認所持證件是通過“辦證”小廣告聯繫後，在龍泉驛區大面鎮楠博苑小區附近從一女子手中購買得來的。根據線索，警方迅速組織警力實施循線偵查，並在大面鎮楠博苑小區一帶蹲守。自存倉過兩個小時的守候，參與製作假證的婦女終於出現在小區門口，民警通過秘密跟蹤，在該小區一單元十二樓一住宅內查獲大量假證章以及制假工具和原材料，並擋獲3名嫌疑人。經檢查發現，該制假窩點的“產品”種類齊全，從准生證、出生醫學證明、戶口本、身份證、學生證、畢業證、結婚證、工作證、駕駛證、離婚證、老年優待證、火化證一應俱全，幾乎涵蓋了普通人一生所需的所有證件。經清點，共計查獲各種假證件4000余本、各類假印章3100余枚，以及電腦、雕刻機、塑封機、打印機等制假造假設備十余台。目前，該案還在進一步審查之中，涉案嫌疑人已被警方刑事拘留。迷你倉新蒲崗
